Anyway, School has started for most of us. I guess all of us had gotten into the whole uni lifestyle, but start of school still sucks

Like, I've two meetings lined up on my 1st week of school, and one presentation on the 2nd week. Boohoo. But the presentation will be fun, so that's not so much of a worry. Other than that, school has been still a-okay. Still trying to get into schooling mode. Gosh, it's hard. And my profs seem to be more strict this sem, maybe because it's sem 2 and they expect more.

But other than that, there's CNY to look forward to, girls in Singapore. But that also means that Eunice is leaving. Does Eunice even read this blog?! GRRRR

YES ZOOO!!! BUT YOU GUYS HAVE TO WAIT FOR ME TO GET BACK!!!!! no more having fun by yourselves!!! i need to be in the loop man!!

how are you guys doiinngggg? i haven't heard from anyone in ages?! is it exam time now? i'm having a thanksgiving break now for a week, so i'm flying up to nashville tenessee cos i have a cousin there and one of my really good friends has a farm there too!!! YAY!!! i'm going to go feed the chickens, and milk the cows and shear the sheep! how exciting! i'll take lots of photos and put them on facebook when i'm not procrastinating!!! I'm sorry guys, i know i really suck at keeping everyone updated.. but i'm always writing papers or reading.. or getting my drunk friends back into their dorms on the weekends... and i never know when all my time disappears!! AH! but life here is pretty good. i've got a whole new experience and opportunities that i doubt i would have gotten anywhere else in the world. Dukes a huge school and pretty rich with amazing alumni! can you believe it? Melinda Gates donated $30 million to duke to sponsor service projects for anyone who wants to go. The only catch is that it has to be more than 8 weeks long and they pay for EVERYTHING. i'm hoping to do something with that this summer but lets see how that goes.

YAY! i got my timetable already, for the next sem i mean.

I'm happy with the timings.. all noon classes, and one 3.30 class. But I might be bidding for a thu morning class. Because I have to, or I will never be able to finish my modules in 4 years.

ARGH. and i don't know what to bid. But I will be bidding with some people. So that means friends in class.

The thing is they freaking randomly put us in classes AGAIN! and friends that I am close to in school, because of the current classes, are in different classes as me.

ARGH! SAD SAD SAD!! :(

Okay uhm in following See Yun's example, I'll blog about my school, (or what I attend of it! ha ha.)

AND YES WE NEED PHOTOS, HEM HEM!

Actually people think lit's all about books and poetry, but we do study film too, though it's not the same as cinema & film studies because I think with the latter you study technique too. We just learn themes, and we're studying some really cool films. I'm currently on Persona which is a swedish film by this really famous director that just died, Ingmar Bergman. It's very abstract and surreal, which I like so I've been attending lessons for this heh.

Bergman has made some really cool films, I've become a fan after learning Persona in school. You guys should check out The Seventh Seal if you can, it's really really really good.

I've also just switched to twice a week french lessons at Alliance Francaise now which is really tiring, and it's quite scary to make new friends! Oh btw gen there's a girl in my new class called Huiyan who's a NUS biz freshman.

Anyway, thanks for the awesome time on friday! <3

Ok, let me update you guys on what am I doing so far.

Friday I had my india ocip meeting and we got drilled because we seem so slack and not getting things done. and the meeting lasted for forever.. I only make my way home at 10plus that night.

Now I am busy with all my final projects. I have 2 major projects coming up. BGS and AS. argh. i've to do a debate for AS. we are probably going to stage the whole thing by collaborating with the other group. HAHA. not sure how we are going to do it. but when there's a will, there's a way.

I've my BGS presentation nx week. Can't wait for it to be over. It's one of the heaviest weightage projects and i just can't wait to do it. We are the first to present :x

After my presentations, then it is preparations of my finals. I have found some people to study with, so it's good. At least I am not all alone and it's always better to have people i can consult, especially when it comes to statistics and biz law.

Ok, I can't wait for my exams to be over and the holidays to arrive. I won't be around from the 7-22nd cos i'll be in india

I am really glad that I've you guys, especially when I am so scared that I cannot find any friends in uni (like real friends) and you guys will soon have your own life.
BUT I'm glad everyone, especially those in Singapore, are facing the same problems as me. Maybe I am too picky and maybe I am being too ambitious of trying to equate friends in uni with the friends I made in AC and MG.

It's so different. It's hard to breack into a girl's clique. But the situation isn't all that bad. At least I have people to talk to in class and people to lunch with when I have lunch in school.

I am loving these sessions we have. We really should have more of these. Saturday night is good! At least everyone's relaxed and not having bother about rushing an assignment by the next day or having early class in the morning.

HELLOOOOO EVERYONE!!!!! i know i was supposed to post a LONG LONG LONG time ago! but i keep procrastinating! and then my work keeps piliing up and i don't have any time to do anything.. I really should be studying for my spanish test.. and doing my reading.. but since WEBO! is blackmailing me, i'll have to do something!

So anyway! I'm going strong in duke! its getting a bit chilly now, i mean, the sun still shines and if you stand in it for long enough you'll get burnt. but then there are these exceptionally cold winds that keep blowing, so you really need a sweater. people here think i'm nuts that i'm wearing two layers cos most of them don't even wear jeans! AHH! shorts in this cold?! i think they're the nutty ones! But the campus looks absolutely beautiful! i posted a few pictures of it on facebook, but i haven't really got to getting better ones. FALL IS COMMMIINNGGG!!! and soon everything will be nice and orange! its just starting now, i mean you can actually see the tips of the leaves browning.. but theres still quite some time.

Hmm.. classes are killing me!! im taking 4.5 credits this term -- 1. Islam, human rights and terrorism, 2. Genocide and human rights, 3. Environmental Impact writing (its a writing course that compulsory for first year, you get to choose which topic though! so i'm studying how we can all save the environment!! =), i love the fact that duke is SO GREEN! recycling is HUGE here! but then when you go for a shower, you see the shower on the WHOLE time, i tell you! the americans are nuts!) and lastly, spanish1 which is so difficult because its so close to french that i just CANNOT make the switch! ROAR! all my classes are small, ie 16 people or less, so you really can't afford to miss classes or not do your homework cos thats just plain obvious since its mostly discussion based. I'm feeling pretty stupid... people here are so smart, everyone has deep profound things to say and i find myself thinking of the superficial. Oh well, i know you guys are curious about the first two classes, and trust me, they ARE! let me get into the rhythm of blogging then i'll explain more! =)

Other than classes, i'm part of the ULTIMATE FRISSBEE TEAMMM!!!! YAY!!! AND I JUST GOT NEW CLEATS!! which cost me a bomb, but i still love them so! I love frisbee too! plus its a club team, so not that intensive!! =) and i'm an analyst for the investment club, on the executive board for the Hindu Students Association, on the publicity committee for the South Asian Students association. member of the leadership roundtable (which is basically a team that discusses leadership with distinguished faculty members and other national leaders) hmmm.. i thinnk thats it for now.. although i'm also looking for a job! i'm seriously stretching myself, but i decided that i'm here to make full use of all the opportunities that are available, so i'm going to pull out all the stops here!! =)

hey everyone!
just went to the porch of my house to pass smtg to a church fren and when i came back i realised that i've been studying with 4 butts staring at me. haha..you see, i was studying the gluteal region..haha..when u study all the minute details like the muscles and stuff, you dont really realise what you're looking at. haha. so funny. so yup 4 butts, 3 with skin and 1 just muscles.

anyway, my parents are prob on the plane to liverpool abt now. plane's taking off in abt 5 mins. i'd prob be on that plane too if i was still going to liverpool..and u pple would prob be on the way home from the airport..haha..i assuming u were going to see me off. haha :P yeah. so wow. wad a turn of events eh.

school's been fine so far. very heavy in content tho. think even if i study 24/7 i'd never be able to finish studying. i love eunice! she's always getting all the stuff and i'm still like har?? i dont understand..mann..eunice!! wish we were still going to the same uni! then u can explain all the stuff to me!! anway, eunice brought the new paper article of vanessahudgens today!! ahh..dang..so saddening..ok la..not "so" but yeah just saddening!! no more highschool musical3?? and yeah like was telling eunice, if it really was zacefron's idea we gotta cut him some slack..haha..right eunice?? :P eunice's been feeding me with loads of colourful 'poison'! m&ms! there's another visiting student, michelle, and she told us she used to wet the m&ms and smarties and use them as lipstick..HAHA :P

went for lunch with nads, sheryl and gen on mon. eunice had to do visitation at the hospital..but we met her buying prata at holland v so yay still met her for lunch. so anyway sheryl, nads and i had lunch at coffeegrounds den we picked gen up in nads' car and headed for brekos at holland v for dessert/lunch! den we dropped gen back for her tutorial! haha..so fun! wish i had a car too! :P ok..have to get back to studying..

UNI NO.3

it's kinda cool that we are getting a perspective of 3 different kind of unis.

anyway, i've been busy busy busy. you know in mg and ac, you don't have to worry about competition and everything is free and easy. In SMU, hoho, not the case anymore. I felt that the kaisu monster that has been breeding in my body for the past 12 years had finally awoken from its deep sleep and it's is starving. So, this kaisu monster is stressing me up and I am moving towards the muggerish mode. SUCKS!!!

But apart from that, it's good I've been making new friends and hopefully these friends can get me through a smoothsailing uni life. it's 4 years of tough work. I think I haven't mentally prepared myself for uni life well enough and it is going to be so different from jc life where everything's spoonfed. But lectures are interesing! Just that I can't seem to use the 'politically correct terms' or cheem official business language yet.

Hey Guys! WE NEED PHOTOS! And I was wondering if we should put up links of our individual blogs?

Okay, uhm, my university life. For lit. we do a theory/book a week, plus readings about the books/poems. We're doing King Lear in two weeks! It's easy to do the readings if you like the stuff, but quite a pain if it's in Old English.

But I like the fact that it's more about thinking on the spot & discussing and not so much about memorising details (like with med.) because I'm very very bad with details! Too lazy. Unfortunately certain literary theorists (aka people with too much time) have come up with theories that focus on close reading, which is something similar to dissecting every line and punctuation mark, again very painful. Deconstruction theorists (also too free) will do aforementioned close reading, then deduct about what was not said.

To give you an idea, I just received my first essay assignment today; we have to apply one theory of our choice on a single word from Heart Of Darkness and talk about how that word affects the novel. One word!! Essays at university are called 'research papers' where we have to research our topic from books etc. etc. with footnotes and everything. Get one small point of a footnote wrong (and they're quite anal about this, there's this international organization made up of people with, again, too much time who regulate the punctuation, I kid you not) and it's called 'plagiarism', which is an automatic fail!

So yes, life of a lit. major ;)

haha..ok i shall blog abt my 'uni' life.

yest, my colleague asked me to help her mend back her keychain thingy so wad i had to do is to kinda string the thick fabric loop of thread into a really tiny hole of a metal cover (get it?? haha nvm..not the main point) anyway she gave me this surgical looking tweezer thingy (not the pluck hair one ahh..) and with the help of the pin of the mg badge, I DID IT! and mann.. it felt good. think i might just take up cardiology in future. afterall, i love doing these intricate manual stuff. it's like so cool cos you have to think on your feet or even change the approach of how you're carrying out the 'operation'! and i love focusing on these lil things!! YEAH.. i love doing these mending thingys! hopefully i can mend/sew back bodies in future! haha..oh but think i might wanna be a gyne or obs person..cos babies are so cutEE! den i'll deliver all your kids.. :)

haha ok so yeah..one life changing experience for me. but u noe wad? i've had another one. its through rollerblading! rollerblading changed my life!! i went to west coast park last sat and bladed around with justin..so anyway, he figured out how to do this really cool turn on the blades. and i really wanted to be able to do it too! so i tried and tried and each time i did, i was really afraid that i would fall. but i kept trying!! and guess wad? i finally did it! slowly, bit by bit, from a 20degree turn to a 60degree turn and finally a 180degree turn! and now i can almost do a 270degree turn! so cool rite? so anyway, with my new found confidence, i decided to play the piano (my nemesis) when i got home. i attempted to play hanbera by bizet (u noe the UIC washing powder advertisement song) and i could play a rather decent tune! and i realised how much courage one needs to play the piano. it might seem like a lil thing but for me, yeah loads of courage needed- i've got to have the courage to press down the specified keys (on both the left and right hand) at the specified time and rhythm (as written on the piano score). it requires so much trust (on the music score)! stress mann. so anyway, bcos i could master that tough trick on blades, i told myself i could do it! and viola! THANK GOD for his wonderful way of showing me that I can do all things if I try and trust in Him! (yeah..eunice when i was blading to ur house to do yams' pressie, I was like praying ALL the way for God to protect me! and he did! i arrived in 1 piece HAHA :) )

Hello everyone! This is Eunice's first time ever blogging. So if I forget to press the "publish" button or somehow mess the whole layout up ... don't kill me. :D:D

Anyway, just to update everyone: school's been okay for me so far. It was quite overwhelming at first when I received the detailed timetable: there are more lectures than anything else. In fact, I survived my first 4 lecture day today; without falling asleep! Heh heh. Three straight hours of lectures tomorrow, let's see how I do. :D

But seriously, the lecture content has been quite interesting so far. I'm definitely glad I did Bio in JC, because the first few Biochem lectures have been about stuff that we covered in JC Bio. Wonder how those who didn't take Bio cope. I've always enjoyed Bio, but still it's quite a lot to take in, given the pace at which the lecturers cover the material.

I had my first Anatomy lecture today - about the Upper Limbs. Very nice. The lecturer was really engaging too, and that definitely helped. A lot of names to remember, naturally, but that's the kind of stuff I like! :D Memorising names of different bones and joints seems just right up my alley. :)

But it's been nice getting a taste of Uni life before Debo and I go to Monash. Sitting through the lectures have given me a rough idea of what it'll be like next year. I think I've made the right choice in deciding to do what I want to do - and that feels great. :):)

I'm not used to blogger since I've been using livejournal for the past 2 years, but Liz here! (I'm mairearad). Sorry I went late for the luncheon and couldn't make it for yams' farewell :( But I'm really glad you guys thought up of this, it looks like an awesome way to catch up and keep one another informed of our lives in uni when we head off in separate directions. Don't you love the internet? We can keep in touch relatively easily :)

I can't believe MGS was something of two years ago and not yesterday, and now we're all heading off and having to learn how to be independent! (Like Debo and her marketing). Okay this is getting too nostalgic but see you guys soon!

anyways, yay this blog is finally up. so i shall start the ball rolling.
in preparation for my next 5 years in aussie, starting next feb,
i went with my mommie to the supermarket todayy.
and i learnt to choose apples, pears and chicken.
and i learnt how to skin and clean up the chicken too! woohoo :P HAHA..ohkkay..
